Construction Begins on Vermont's Largest Hospital

Work is underway on the latest expansion to Vermont's largest hospital.

Officials broke ground Thursday on the construction of a 128-bed inpatient wing at the University of Vermont Medical Center. The seven-story Robert and Holly Miller Building will cost about $187 million and is scheduled to open in 2019.

The facility bears the names of the Vermont philanthropists who donated $13 million in real estate to the hospital.

Hospital officials expected to break ground on the project last year, but it was delayed by state regulators who wanted to make sure the hospital could stay up to date with its bills.
