A man died after being struck by a commercial vehicle in Concord, Massachusetts on Monday.
The Middlesex District Attorney said an adult male pedestrian was struck by a 2016 Ford Utility pickup truck around 12:22 p.m. at the intersection of Independence and Alcott roads.
Comcast later identified the truck belonging to their company.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the man who was killed was working on the side of the road when the utility truck backed up, running him over.
The man, later identified as 75-year-old Wayne Moody, of Rutland, was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the truck remained on scene.
Comcast released a statement following the crash:
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Moody's family and friends. Because this is an active and ongoing investigation we are referring any further questions to local authorities," read the statement.
State and local police are both investigating the incident.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was also notified.
No further information was immediately available.
