Cops: Alcohol a Factor in Drowning Death of Vt. Man

Rescuers found the body of 24-year-old Scott Way, of St. Johnsbury in the Connecticut River in Littleton on Sunday afternoon

Police in New Hampshire say over-consumption of alcohol appears to have factored into the drowning death of a Vermont man.

Rescuers found the body of 24-year-old Scott Way, of St. Johnsbury in the Connecticut River in Littleton on Sunday afternoon.

Police said Monday that Way was attempting to swim from one location to another and drowned. A preliminary investigation indicates that poor decision-making and alcohol were factors in the incident.

The Caledonian Record reports authorities are still waiting for the state medical examiner's report.

Littleton Police Chief Paul Smith says authorities are ruling out anything suspicious or criminal for now.
