Couple Arrested for Sexual Assault, Drugging Young Woman

Police have made two arrests Monday in connection with the drugging and rape of a woman found unconscious in a park in Plymouth, Massachusetts earlier this month.

Michael Botelho, 39, and Stephania Cyr, 30, are charged with aggravated rape, drugging a person for sexual intercourse, and selling liquor to a person under 18.

According to police, the victim was discovered early in the morning of Monday Jan. 8 unconscious in her car, parked in Morton Park in Plymouth. She was transported to a Boston area hospital where, upon recovery, she reported being sexually assaulted while drugged.

According to the victim, she had met Botelho and Cyr online before agreeing to meet at Morton Park. She was then transported by the suspects to the Rosewood Motel in Wareham, where she said drinking and drug use affected her control of the situation and led to the alleged sexual assault by the suspects.

Plymouth Police believe the victim was transported back to the park while unconscious and placed in her vehicle, where she was left in frigid temperatures until she was discovered.

Cyr was arrested by Wareham police on Thursday. Botelho was arrested on Friday.

Both remain in custody after being arraigned in Wareham District Court.
