The speed limit on the Mass. Pike was reduced from the New York border to exit 5 in Chicopee

Crashes were reported around Massachusetts and New Hampshire Saturday morning as snow, slush and even freezing rain hit the region.

State police reported a crash on I-495 northbound that left two left lanes closed. The crash happened 1 mile prior to exit 23 in Southborough. Only the tractor-trailer unit was involved and the driver was left with minor injuries.

There was another crash on I-495 northbound just short of exit 21 in Hopkinton. The left lane was closed and no injuries were reported.

A vehicle rollover was reported in Nashua, New Hampshire, in the southbound lane of Route 3 before exit 2.

In Salem, police reported at least four cars were off the road near Route 111/Zachary's Crossing and Cowbell Corner.

Meanwhile, the speed limit on the Mass. Pike was reduced to 40 mph from exit 5 in Chicopee to the New York border. The speed limit reduction was extended to Boston earlier Saturday morning.

MassDOT recommended residents avoid running errands in vehicles until the weather clears up later in the afternoon.

By 11:30 a.m. nearly 3000 plows were on Massachusetts roads.
