13 Displaced After 3-Alarm House Fire in Providence, R.I.

Several houses in the immediate area appear to be threatened

A woman jumped from a burning home in Providence and three firefighters were hurt battling the early morning blaze.

Firefighters got the call around 2 a.m. Thursday.

The house in the city's West End was engulfed in flames by the time they arrived.

More than a dozen people were inside at the time, and all escaped.

One woman had to jump from the second story, off the roof of a porch. She was taken to the hospital with a shoulder injury.

Firefighters credit working smoke detectors with alerting residents to the blaze.

Two firefighters were brought to the hospital with injuries. A third was treated at the scene.

The cause is under investigation.
