A home in Walpole, Massachusetts, may have to be torn down after fire tore through it on Thursday.

The fire at the 2-story East Street home started at about 10:30 a.m. and quickly reached two-alarms.

Neighbor Marjory Goodwin said she had been next door to pick up her friend when the fire started.

"This guy says, 'call 911!' She called 911, I called 911," Goodwin recalled. "The smoke was pouring out of there like crazy. It was unbelievable. It was terrible."

Firefighters found the house empty and were eventually able to douse the flames with help from crews in Westwood and Sharon.

"Stubborn fire to get knocked down. Extensive damage throughout the house. Uninhabitable at the moment," Walpole Dep. Fire Chief Paul Barry said.

One woman was seen walking up to the house crying but was too distraught to talk.

"I just feel bad. And they had lost a cat on top of it," Goodwin said.

    No injuries were reported.

While the state fire marshal's office works to determine the cause of the blaze, authorities say the structure may have to be torn down.
