A body was found after crews knocked down a 3-alarm fire in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
The fire broke out shortly after 5 p.m. Friday at 48 Watts St., authorities confirmed. It spread to the third floor of 109 Highland St.
Around 9:15 p.m., Chelsea Police Chief Brian Kyes said the body of a man in his early 30s was found on the back porch in the Watts Street building.
The victim's aunt identified him as Milton Lopez.
Family members told firefighters they hadn't seen Lopez in days and did not even know he was home.
Alejandro Castillo owns the Highland Street property. The third floor burned and the others were left with water damage. He says his tenants don't have insurance.
"They lost everything, you know?" he said.
Crews from the Everett and Lynn assisted in the response to the fire, which quickly reached three alarms.
While the fire has been put out, crews were working to extinguish hot spots later Friday evening.
The case is under investigation.
