The Coast Guard has launched a search for a missing 64-year-old diver who went missing while diving near the Andrea Doria wreck. The wreck is located 60 miles southeast of Nantucket, Massachusetts.
Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, the crew aboard the commercial diving boat alerted the Coast Guard that the man had not resurfaced from his dive. Another diver confirmed being alongside the man, but he too failed to see him resurface.
Several Coast Guard ships and helicopters have searched over 159 nautical square miles. They have yet to discover any clues regarding the diver's whereabouts.
The Andrea Doria wreck rests in 240 feet of water.
Diving in the area has resulted in seven deaths and four injuries since 2005, according to the Coast Guard.
