Horse Dies After Becoming Stuck in Mud in Killingly

A horse died after being stuck in deep mud in Killingly Sunday afternoon, despite the efforts of first responders.

According to the South Killingly Fire Department, multiple departments responded when the animal became stuck in mud and water on Geer Road.

Crews were able to rescue the horse from the mud, but the animal died of its injuries.

Rescuers from South Killingly, Danielson, Sterling, Williamsville and KB Ambulance all responded to assist.

No other details were immediately available.
