    Family Grieving After Girl's Body Left at Hospital

    An investigation into the death of 13-year-old Chloe Ricard remains ongoing.

    Police are continuing to investigate the death of an Amesbury girl who was brought to a Massachusetts hospital on Monday afternoon.

    Chloe Ricard, 13, was left at Lawrence General Hospital at 4:47 p.m. on Monday and police said she was already dead when she was dropped off, according to the Essex District Attorney's Office. 

    Prior to being dropped off, she was hanging out with friends on Monday morning, according to her stepfather, Brian Dolan. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the child's death and are searching for the person or people who left her at the hospital. 

    "The doctor told me, 'I tried everything I can. When she came in, she was lifeless, she had no pulse," Dolan said.

    Questions are still swirling around the puzzling circumstances. She had been a student at Amesbury Middle School, but left for an alternative school a few months back.

    Lawrence Police Chief Roy Vasque told The Eagle-Tribune the hospital called police to notify them of the death.

    An autopsy is being performed Tuesday by the chief medical examiner's office, but the district attorney's office said it could be some time before there is a ruling on the cause and manner of death.

    No arrests have been made.

    She is the second young girl to die in Lawrence in the last six months. An 11-year-old Haverhill girl who had been staying at her granduncle's house in the city after exposure to fentanyl. Her granduncle is charged with murder.
