61-Year-Old Woman Found Dead in New Hampshire

Police say there is no threat to the general public

Police are investigating after a woman was found dead in a Merrimack, New Hampshire, home on Thursday morning.

The Merrimack Police Department said in a message posted on its Facebook page that the department, in conjunction with New Hampshire State Police and the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office, were at the scene of a "death investigation" on Back River Road.

The attorney general's office issued a press release Thursday afternoon saying that they responded to a 911 call at 86 Back River Road at 6:21 a.m. and discovered 61-year-old Darlene Lawrence dead. The circumstances of her death remain under investigation. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

"Based on the investigation so far, there is no information to indicate that the public is in any danger as a result of the death," the release said.

Neighbors said Lawrence lived in the home with her husband. They said the couple was kind and often walked together through the neighborhood.

Karen Parsons lives right next door. She said she doesn't know Darlene well, but says Darlene's husband, Joe, is talkative and kind, and her heart goes out to their family right now.

"I never figured this would have happened," Parsons said.
