MBTA commuters who depend on the Providence/Stoughton Commuter Rail Line waited for more than an hour Thursday morning after a disabled train threw off other trains' schedule.
Train 800 from Providence became stuck at Sharon Station after it experienced a mechanical issue at about 5 a.m. It was later assisted by Train 802 and operations resumed.
The delay was unpleasant for commuters, who were vocal about their anger and disappointment.
"What kind of (expletive) service is this," asked one man. "Third World countries have better service than this."
The MBTA reported delays of two hours at one point which were nerve-racking and confusing to commuters arriving to South Station in Boston.
"This is not acceptable," one commuter at South Station said. "And they want to raise fares for incidents like this? This should not be a thing. Really reconsider of this. It's not fair to all of us who are running late to work today."
A spokesman for the Commuter Rail said they appreciated the patience of passengers. They are still trying to determine the exact cause of the mechanical problems.
