Worcester Police are investigating a possible drowning case at Lake Pond on Saturday morning.
A 37-year-old female victim was located lying face down in the water near the shoreline at 295 Lake Ave. at 8:03 a.m. near the intersection of Coburn Avenue and Bridle Path. She was pronounced dead at 8:22 a.m.
Investigators spoke to two males who called into the police after discovering the victim. Detectives from the Worcester Police, along with members of the Crime Scene Unit, responded to the scene.
An initial post-mortem examination at the medical examiner's office indicates the cause of death to be an accidental drowning, although no final determination can be made until an autopsy is performed.
The name of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of her family. The investigation remains ongoing.
