The Weymouth Police sergeant, an Army combat veteran, husband and father of two small kids was killed Sunday in the line of duty.

"We have to pay our respects for those people out there fighting for us every day," said Amy Sowinski of Norwell.

"We are devastated by it, and all the public servants, every day, they put their life on the line," said Larry Schrall of Weymouth.

Her family is trying to hold on.

"I appreciate everyone saying it will be OK, but it isn't going to be OK for us," said Chesna's brother-in-law, Joe Comperchio.

Sgt. Chesna's wake will be held Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Hanover. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, also at St. Mary's.

The services are only open to family and friends.
