Dogs Kill Rabid Raccoon in Cheshire

A raccoon that two dogs killed on New Year's Eve in Cheshire has tested positive for rabies, according to Cheshire Animal Control.

The dogs encountered the raccoon in their yard and killed it, according to animal control. Both dogs were up to date with rabies vaccinations "and were boostered against rabies." Per state mandate, they were placed on "strict home confinement" for 45 days, according to animal control.

Cheshire Animal Control reminds pet owners that it's important to vaccinate your pets against rabies to protect them and your family from the fatal virus.
