Car Crashes Into Police Cruiser on I-93 in Dorchester, 2 Hurt: Police

The crash took place in a work zone

A police officer was hurt when a driver crashed into his cruiser on Interstate 93 in the Dorchester section of Boston Friday morning, according to Massachusetts State Police.

The crash came hours before another police officer was hurt in a crash in Milford in a separate incident.

The Dorchester crash took place in a work zone at 2:50 a.m., when a driver crashed into a Massachusetts State Police cruiser. Lane closures were in effect at the time, according to the agency.

The trooper wasn't detailed to the work zone "but was in traffic stopped" there, according to a state police release.

The trooper driving the cruiser had minor injuries but wasn't hospitalized. The driver of the vehicle that crashed into his, a Honda Civic, was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

No charges have been filed in the crash, though state police say they are investigating to see if they may be warranted.
