Boston police have yet to reveal the name of the 19-year-old man who was shot and killed after he allegedly fired a gun at two officers Monday in Dorchester.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office says it is investigating the shooting that left a teen suspect dead on Pennhallow Street. According to police, the confrontation came after officers responded to a call of a separate shooting at 506 Geneva Ave. In the area, two police officers on bicycles spotted two men fleeing the area on foot and engaged in a pursuit.
The two men ran separate ways and the officers pursued one the suspects who had a gun.
"The officers were issuing for several verbal commands for the suspect to drop the firearm to no avail," Boston Police Commissioner William Gross said in a press conference. "Also, according to several witnesses, the suspect then pointed the firearm at the officers and discharged the firearm at the Boston police officers."
Officers returned fire and rendered first aid to the suspect until an EMS crew arrive. The alleged gunman was later confirmed dead at the scene and a gun was recovered, according to officials.
"I am thankful for the immediate response of the Boston Police Department and that none of those officers were injured," District Attorney Rachael Rollins said in a statement. "I also acknowledge that a family has lost its loved one; to them, I express my sympathy."
Rollins went on to say there would be "a complete, impartial, and transparent review" by her office's Discharge Integrity Team. The results of that report will be made available to the public, she said.

Gross said officers on bicycles do not wear body cameras, but footage from other responding officers will be reviewed for the investigation. Authorities are continuing their search for the second suspect.
Although the two officers on bicycles were not hit by the gunfire, they were taken to an area hospital to observed.
