Police: 2 Killed in Crash Involving Pickup Truck, Garbage Truck in Everett

A man and a woman were killed on Wednesday when the pickup truck they were passengers in was involved in a crash with a garbage truck in Massachusetts, according to authorities.

Police say the crash happened just after 8:30 a.m. on North Broadway in Everett.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man and a woman inside the pickup truck, both passengers, had critical injuries, according to the Middlesex district attorney's office.

They were taken to a local hospital by paramedics, where they were pronounced dead, the DA's office said. Their names have not been released yet.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, while the driver of the city-owned trash truck was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed yet, but state and local police are still investigating the crash.

Drivers are being asked to take alternative routes since the northern section of Broadway between Cameron and Kenwood streets is expected to be closed for an extended period of time.
