Downpours, Some Hail Arrive With Cooler Air

Morning sunshine on Wednesday will give way to building clouds by midday

A day after strong to severe storms dotted New England, another batch of wet weather will zip through our region on Wednesday.

Morning sunshine on Wednesday will give way to building clouds by midday. A potent disturbance will cross Southern New England during the afternoon, bringing showers, downpours, and a few embedded thunderstorms.

A chilly pocket of air in the upper atmosphere will result in some small hail in those downpours, but in general the activity will be less intense than the storms that impacted New England on Tuesday. Highs will reach the 60s in Northern New England, with low 70s farther south.

Thursday and Friday will remain cool too, with highs only in the 60s for most. In fact, as the cool air arrives, there could even be some snowflakes atop Mount Washington! Most other Northern New England peaks will just see a couple of spotty rain showers.

The weekend looks like a bit of a split, with the better outdoors weather on Saturday and a few chances for wet weather on Sunday.
