A New Hampshire man is facing multiple charges after leading police on a 126 mph chase on a rain-soaked Interstate 93 on Wednesday morning.
Frederick Dehner, 41, of Nashua, is charged with reckless conduct, reckless driving, disobeying an officer and resisting arrest.
A New Hampshire State Police trooper said he was working a construction detail on I-93 in Windham at 7:21 a.m. Wednesday when he observed a motor vehicle traveling south at a high rate of speed. The trooper caught up with the vehicle several miles south of Exit 3 and watched as the vehicle wove around other vehicles as it traveled in both breakdown lanes in excess of 100 mph. The trooper clocked the vehicle at a top speed of 126 mph near the Massachusetts state line.
Due to the commuter traffic and the wet weather conditions, the trooper ended his pursuit, but he was able to identify the vehicle as a white 2013 Hyundai Sonata with a New Hampshire registration that came back to a rental agency.
Dehner was later located at his residence in Nashua and admitted that he was driving the vehicle, according to police. When he was told he was under arrest, he attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.
He refused the services of a bail commissioner and is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday in Salem District Court.
