A driver slammed his vehicle into a state police cruiser that was parked on a highway infield in Woburn, Massachusetts, on Saturday.
A trooper was parked along Interstate 93 when a Lincoln MKZ sedan suddenly hit his marked Ford Explorer at 4:09 p.m., state police say.
Minutes after the crash happened on the ramp from Interstate 95 north to I-93 north in Woburn, the 37-year-old trooper told NBC10 Boston/necn that he was okay. He was not taken to the hospital.
The driver, a 27-year-old Burlington man, was on the ground outside his car, after the crash. First responders placed him on a stretcher before taking him by ambulance to Winchester Hospital to be examined for possible injuries.
Neither the trooper nor the driver suffered serious injuries.
Investigators searched the driver’s car, which had significant damage to the front end, and the car was eventually towed away.
The cruiser had minor damage and was driven away.
The scene was cleared by about 4:40 p.m.
It’s unclear why the driver lost control of his car, or if he could face any charges.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
