A Massachusetts man is in critical condition after a crash in Gill Wednesday morning, according to state police.
Police say it happened on Route 2 at Chappell Drive just after 10 a.m. Responding officers found a 1997 Geo Prizm that was going eastbound had crossed over to the westbound lane, hitting a 1999 Mack tractor trailer head-on.
The driver of the Geo Prizm, a 34-year-old man from Templeton, had to be cut from the car and flown to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with serious, life-threatening injuries.
The tractor trailer drier, a 29-year-old from Millers Falls, was not injured.
The road was still closed at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday as troopers investigated the crash.
