Drug Cases Dismissed Due to Suspended Officer's Crimes

The prosecutor in Vermont's largest county says he's dismissed three more drug cases that were linked to a suspended Colchester police officer who is facing federal gun and drug charges.

The prosecutor in Vermont's largest county says he's dismissed three more drug cases that were linked to a suspended Colchester police officer who is facing federal gun and drug charges.

Chittenden County State's Attorney T.J. Donovan says the latest three cases bring to five the total number of cases dismissed because of missing evidence from the Colchester Police Department.

Last month Colchester Police Cpl. Tyler Kinney was arrested on charges he allegedly stole a gun and drugs from the evidence locker of his department. He has not entered a plea. He was released from jail and sent to a drug rehabilitation center.

On Monday, officials announced that felony heroin charges had been dismissed against two defendants.

Donovan said Wednesday he'd dismissed three felony marijuana cases.
