Drug Take-Back Day to Gather Unwanted Meds

The ninth annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27

Vermont Attorney General William Sorrell is urging Vermonters to dispose of unwanted medications on this year's drug take-back day.

The ninth annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 27.

Sorrel says the Drug Enforcement Administration is holding the event in partnership with the Vermont State Police, sheriff's departments and police departments throughout Vermont.

The take-back day last October in Vermont collected almost 3,500 pounds of drugs.

Sorrell says prescription drugs that remain in home medicine cabinets can be abused, misused and trafficked. He also urged parents to talk with their children about the dangers of abusing prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Vermont take-back locations can be found at www.dea.gov.

The program runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
