Early-Morning Blaze Destroys Mobile Home

Firefighters responded to the fire at Green Mountain Trailer Park in St. Johnsbury around 2:45 a.m. Thursday

Fire officials say no injuries were reported after an early morning blaze destroyed an unoccupied mobile home in a northeastern Vermont trailer park.

The Caledonian Record reports firefighters responded to the fire at Green Mountain Trailer Park in St. Johnsbury around 2:45 a.m. Thursday.

Crews soon realized that there was no hope for saving the structure. Firefighters then concentrated on preventing the flames from spreading from the burning mobile home to the residence of its owner, Mildred Lewis, which sat only about 30 feet away.

With the extensive damage, there was no obvious cause for the fire. Fire Chief Troy Ruggles called in help from a Vermont State Police fire investigator, but they were still unable to determine how the blaze started.

Ruggles says the fire isn't considered suspicious.
