An East Hartford man is facing charges including murder after a double shooting that left one person dead and another person injured in Hartford on Thursday, according to police.
Officers received a ShotSpotter activation of seven gunshots fired near Garden Street and Pliny Street. Police said before ShotSpotter was activated, several 911 calls indicated that two people had been shot.
When officers arrived to the scene, they found an unresponsive man, later identified as 35-year-old Ross Stone, of West Hartford, near 451 Garden Street. Police said Stone was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
One block south, at the intersection of Garden Street and Mather Street, police said they found a second victim, later identified as 25-year-old Elijah Adorno, of Hartford, suffering from several gunshot wounds to his lower extremities and stomach.
Both victims were transported to St. Francis Hospital and were immediately admitted to surgery. According to police, Stone was pronounced dead at 5:05 p.m. Adorno was listed in stable condition, as of Thursday night.
During the investigation, police said they identified the suspect as 29-year-old Abdul-Hakim Ali, of East Hartford. Early Sunday morning, members of the Hartford Police Vice/Intelligence/Narcotics Division and Hartford U.S. Marshal's Violent Fugitive Task Force found Ali in a hotel room in New London.
Police said Ali was taken into custody safely and without incident. Ali is facing charges including murder, assault and criminal possession of a firearm. He is currently being held on a $1,000,000 bond and is next due in court on January 14.
