Report: 1 Dead in House Fire Hampered by ‘Extreme Hoarding'

A man reportedly died in a Massachusetts house fire that had "extreme hoarding conditions."

WJAR reports that the daughter of 84-year-old Easton resident David Berman said her father passed away in the fire in his Dean Street home on Wednesday morning.

Officials previously said "extreme hoarding conditions" affected efforts to knock down the fire.

Eventually the Easton Fire Department and mutual aid crews were able to gain entry to the house and begin knocking down the fire.

Photos from the scene show smoky conditions, and crews making their way through an overgrown property to the home.

Berman was an veteran of the Air Force and Marines.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
