An 88-year-old man was hit by a car in Hyannis, Massachusetts on Saturday morning, Barnstable police reported.
The man was hit while he was crossing South Street just east of the intersection with Sea Street at 9:20 a.m., the police report said. The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 79-year-old Carver man driving a rental car.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. No citations had been issued as of Saturday morning. The pedestrian was first taken to Cape Cod Hospital before being flown to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, according to the police department press release.
