A 83-year-old man has been identified as the person found dead inside his home on Prudence Island during a fire.
Portsmouth Police on Monday said Norman Medeiros was found dead when fire crews were battling a fire at his house Thursday night.
They say Medeiros's cause of death, and the cause of the fire, are under investigation.
The island's volunteer fire department responded to the blaze around 7 p.m. Thursday and found Medeiros's single-family home fully engulfed.
The fire crew found him dead inside.
