Authorities in New Hampshire are searching for an inmate who walked away from a Department of Corrections facility in Manchester on Tuesday.
David Sawell Carey, 46, formerly of Manchester, left the Calumet Transitional Housing Unit at 6:17 a.m. to report for work, according to officials with the Department of Corrections.
When Carey's employer said he did not show up for work, he was placed on escape status. He was supposed to return back to the housing facility at 6 p.m.
Authorities said walking away from a correctional facility is considered a Class B felony punishable by up to 7 years in prison.
Carey is described as 5'8" tall, 186 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. He has tattoos on his upper right and left arms, left and right calves, left hand, and his abdomen.
Officials said Carey was convicted as a habitual offender in Hillsborough County Superior Court on July 31, 2017, and was eligible for parole on July 30, 2018.
