The former fire chief in Farmington, New Hampshire, has been indicted on charges he stole at least $1,500 in town funds.
Fosters Daily Democrat reports that 48-year-old Richard Fowler of Skowhegan, Maine, was charged with taking the money between November 2009 and June of this year.
Fowler was fired in August from his job leading the Skowhegan department.
Strafford County Attorney Thomas Velardi tells the paper the amount of money stolen was "substantially more" than $1,500.
Fowler faces 7 ½ to 15 years in prison if he's convicted on the charge of theft by unauthorized taking. It could not immediately be learned if he has a lawyer.
