The former nanny for a Westport family is accused of stealing dozens of expensive handbags and jewelry from her employer.
The resident reached out to police in August 2013 and said she believed her nanny, 52-year-old Lucy Pedroza, of Stamford, had stolen jewelry and several high-end handbags from her residence between April 2011 and July 2013.
The victim said she had fired Pedroza.
In December 2015, the victim contacted Westport detectives and said she found a Facebook page for Pedroza and it showed her wearing many of her stolen items, police said.
When detectives searched Pedroza’s apartment, they recovered more than 30 handbags, articles of clothing and jewelry believed to be stolen from the Westport victim.
Pedroza, who is also known as Lucy Chieco and Lucerito Pedroza, turned herself in to police on Monday after learning there was a warrant for her arrest.
Pedroza was charged with second-degree larceny and was released after posting $10,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on March 17 at 9:30 a.m.
