Ex-Providence Student Sues Brown Over Rape Allegations

The Brown students were never indicted on criminal charges

A former Providence College student who said three Brown University students drugged and sexually assaulted her in 2013 has sued the Ivy League school in federal court.

The Providence Journal reports that the Massachusetts woman alleges that Brown violated Title IX in handling her case, violated the Rhode Island Civil Rights Act and discriminated against her based on gender. The suit also names two Brown deans as defendants.

The suit says the woman, then an 18-year-old freshman, met two Brown football players in a bar in September 2013 who drugged her and took her back to a dorm where a third football player assaulted her.

The Brown students were never indicted on criminal charges.

Brown said in a statement that it will respond to the allegations through the legal process.
