Excessive Force Lawsuit Heading to Jury Trial

William Sadulsky filed the lawsuit against three Winslow officers and the town in 2014

A lawsuit brought by a Maine man who says excessive force was used against him during an arrest is headed to a jury trial in Bangor.

William Sadulsky filed the lawsuit against three Winslow officers and the town in 2014. He claimed they used excessive force, illegally entered his home and unlawfully detained him while responding to a noise complaint at his Winslow home in 2012.

He says his hands were raised when police used a stun gun on him.

A judge in September dismissed the complaint against the town, and ruled that only claims of excessive force and negligent infliction of emotional distress are to go to trial.

The Morning Sentinel reports jury selection is scheduled for Tuesday. The case is docketed for opening arguments on Wednesday.
