Federal authorities are offering a $20,000 reward leading to the location of two stolen paintings in a case believed to be one of the biggest thefts in the history of Maine.
The FBI announced the reward Tuesday afternoon in the June 2013 case of N.C. Wyeth paintings stolen from the home of a Portland businessman.
Four of the six stolen painting were recovered in a California pawn shop; however, two paintings - "The Encounter on the Freshwater Cliff" and "Go Dutton, and that Right Speedily" - are still missing.
Three people have been arrested so far in the investigation after agents in Portland were contacted by federal authorities in Los Angeles about a tip on the whereabouts of four of the stolen paintings in November 2014.
Sixty-five-year-old Lawrence Estrella of Worcester, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty in February 2015 for taking the stolen paintings to California. Oscar Leroy Roberts, 37, of North Hollywood, California, also pleaded guilty in February 2015 for using the paintings to secure a loan from a Beverly Hills pawn shop. Dean Coroniti, 55, also of North Hollywood and a former Boston resident, pleaded guilty to possession of stolen property in March 2015.
