FD: 2 People Killed in Overnight Fire

The fire happened on 14 Whiley Road.

Crews in Groton, Massachusetts, say two people died in a late-night fire overnight Thursday.

Crews were on the scene at 14 Whiley Road. The call for the fire came in at 11:36 Thursday night.

According to police, they arrived onscene to find intense fire and heat.

They also noticed vehicles in the driveway which indicated that at least two people were home.

Firefighters later determined two people were deceased in the building.

Crews from Pepperell, Westford, Ayer, Littleton, and Dunstable responded with trucks for mutual aid.

The victims' identities will be released by the District Attorney's Office once next of kin have been notified.

Everyone else in the single-family home has been accounted for.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Groton Fire and Police Departments, along with the State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshall, and the Office of Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
