Never mind snowstorms and frigid temperatures. Winter may be just the right time to visit a farmers' market in Massachusetts.
From Orleans on Cape Cod to Great Barrington in the Berkshires, the state Division of Agricultural Resources says there are nearly 50 farmers markets that continue to operate even in the coldest months of the year.
Most of the winter markets open on a weekly or monthly schedule.
The markets feature products from local farms and vendors including cheese, eggs, baked goods and other locally produced food items.
