Fatal Car Crash on Interstate 295 in Freeport, Maine

A Gardiner man was killed when he lost control of his vehicle on Interstate 295, Maine State Police said Saturday.

Raymond Bisson, 50, died at the scene in Freeport. Troopers said Bisson first collided with a driver in the southbound lane, who was not injured. He then crossed the median and was struck by another vehicle, which contained a family of three. They were taken to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash closed the northbound lane for 3.5 hours. Authorities say speed is a likely factor in the crash and that Bisson was unfortunately not wearing his seat belt.
