1 Dead Following High-Speed Police Chase

A Massachusetts man is dead after police said he led them on a high-speed chase up Interstate 95 north on Sunday night.

New Hampshire State Police said Massachusetts State Police contacted them around 7 p.m. to report that they were in pursuit of a 1999 Ford Explorer which was heading toward the state border near Seabrook.

Eventually, the car veered into the center median, struck a guardrail, continued across the median and then struck another guardrail. The vehicle came to rest under the Route 107 overpass in New Hampshire, police said.

The driver, Jeffrey Hiltz, 35, of Danvers, died at the scene from his injuries. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

A portion of I-95 south was closed for several hours Sunday night while police investigated. The New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Anyone with more information about the chase is encouraged to contact Trooper Thomas Conlon at 603-223-8614.
