Man Killed in I-95 Crash in Georgetown ID'd

A man is dead and a woman was seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 95 north in Georgetown, Massachusetts on Friday afternoon.

The crash happened just before exit 55 around 2 p.m.

State police believe 67-year-old Paul Girard, of Narragansett, Rhode Island, lost control of his vehicle and veered into the breakdown lane, continuing onto the grass and hitting a tree. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 63-year-old female passenger was taken to Anna Jacques Hospital with serious injuries.

The two right lanes and the breakdown lane were initially closed while the scene was cleared.

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation.
