Fatal Shootings Are Up 58 Percent in Boston This Year

Following a bloody weekend, Boston Police issued their most recent data and fatal shootings are up 58 percent compared to the same period last year.

There have been 19 fatal shootings in Boston during 2018 (through June 10), compared with 12 fatal shootings during the same time frame last year.

Nonfatal shootings in that time period are down 27 percent, from 78 to 57.

This past weekend there were nine nonfatal shootings and one nonfatal stabbing in Boston, according to the report.

The weekend violence was spread across the city's Roxbury and Mattapan neighborhoods.
