A federal law enforcement officer who works at a Maine naval base is facing a child porn charge.
Roy Wise, 49, of 63 Spring St., Calais, Maine, was arrested Thursday night and charged with one count of possession of sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, according to Maine State Police. After his arrest, he was taken to the Washington County Jail.
Wise is a federal law enforcment officer assigned to the Cutler Naval Facility. He is also a former Calais police officer.
The Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit was asked to investigate Wise by Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which suspected him of viewing child porn on his work and his home computers.
Police said there is no indication that any of the images were of children from Maine.
According to the Portland Press Herald, the Cutler Naval Facility houses a low frequency transmitter that the Navy uses to communicate with submarines.
