Autumn wind is blowing in to New England.

Post tropical cyclone Matthew blew through eastern New England overnight with wind gusting past 50 mph and more than 3 inches of rain on the island of Nantucket.

With more than 1.8 inches of rainfall in Boston, Sunday was the wettest calendar day since September 2015.

This afternoon Matthew pulls off into eastern Canada as a strong high-pressure system coming into the Great Lakes with chilly wind, and sunshine, for this afternoon. Highs today in the 50s to near 60°. Wind from the northwest gusting 30 to 35 mph.

Clear skies tonight and cold with scattered frost and freeze low temperature near 32°.

High pressure right overhead tomorrow and Wednesday means nice weather with sunshine and temperatures back into the 60s.

In the tropics Nicole expected to strengthen back to a hurricane and threaten Bermuda on Thursday.

Here in New England we have a weak cold front Thursday afternoon with a few showers, then new high pressure from Canada with fair seasonable weather likely for our weekend.
