2-Alarm Fire Displaces 11 People in Roslindale

Eleven people were displaced by a 2-alarm blaze Wednesday in Boston's Roslindale neighborhood.

The Boston Fire Department said it responded just after 6 p.m. to a fire on Delford Street.

One resident was treated by Boston EMS and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Eight adults and three children were displaced, Boston Fire said. They were being assisted by the Red Cross of Massachusetts and Boston's Office of Neighborhood Services.

Fire crews rescued two birds and a turtle, as well.

The fire department said heavy flames could be seen at the rear of the 2-story building when crews arrived.

Shortly before 7 p.m., officials said the fire had been knocked down.

Fire officials estimate the blaze caused about $400,000 in damage.
