Fire Destroys Decades Old Fairhaven Athletic Club

A decades old athletic club in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, was destroyed early Sunday morning when a fire tore through the building.

Firefighters responded to the blaze at the Thomas Livesey Memorial Club at 11 Hopkins St. at 3:54 a.m. after receiving several 911 calls.

When crews arrived, heavy flames were coming from the back of the building and the fire quickly spread to the roof.

Authorities said nobody was inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The building is deemed a total loss.

Authorities said the Livesey Memorial Club has been in existence for over 60 years, serving both youth and adult sports teams in the community.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office and Fairhaven Fire are investigating the exact cause of the blaze.
