Cat Rescued From House Fire in Brockton

Firefighters battled a house fire in Brockton, Massachusetts Thursday evening.

The fire broke out in a four-unit, 2.5 story home at 179 North Warren Avenue around 11:20 p.m. The building is occupied by four adults and three children.

Everyone was self-evacuated from the building before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.

A cat was rescued by firefighters as they worked to contain the blaze.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but fire officials believe it may have been caised by an overheated electrical cord.

Fire officials estimate that the fire caused about $100,000 in damage.
