Firefighter Arrested for Drunk Driving, Endangering Child

James Devine was arrested Friday afternoon for allegedly driving while drunk with a child in the car

A Massachusetts firefighter was arrested Friday afternoon for drunk driving with a child in his car.

The fire chief in Mansfield confirmed that James Devine, a long-time member of the fire department, was arrested shortly after 5 p.m. in the area of 30 Flora Road in Attleboro.

He is charged with a second offence of operating under the influence, child endangerment, marked lane violation, and failure to stop for police.

Attleboro police said they were alerted by Manfield police to keep an eye out for a vehicle, which lead them to to ultimately stop Devine. 

Details of the arrest and the identity of the child inside the vehicle are still unknown at this point.

Devine has been placed on paid, administrative leave following his arrest. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court on Monday. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
