First Forum on New Opioid Treatment System Set for Monday

New Hampshire health officials are hosting the first of nine forums to explain the state's new system to streamline and coordinate drug abuse treatment and recovery services.

The federal government recently awarded the state the first installment of $45.8 million in grants for the project, which is being called ``The Doorway-NH.'' The system involves a hub-and-spoke model in which hospitals and others work with local providers to ensure that help is less than an hour away anywhere in the state.

Public forums are being held in each hub region through the state for individuals, families, policymakers and other stakeholders.

The first forum is set for Monday at 1 p.m. at Concord Hospital. Others will be held in Lebanon, Berlin, Littleton, Keene, Nashua, Manchester, Dover and Laconia.
