Franklin Student Approached by Man in Car, Police Say

The child was not harmed in the incident

Police in Franklin are warning the public after a student was approached by a man in a car.

According to police, a student of the Benjamin Franklin Classical Charter School reported that she was approached by a man in a car while walking on Oak Street on Friday. The man allegedly motioned for her to come to the car.

A neighbor recognized the situation and called the student over to her, police said.

The child was not harmed in the incident.

Police say they have received multiple reports of similar incidents in Franklin and the surrounding areas in the past few weeks. Although they are not sure the incidents are related— the descriptions of the suspects and vehicles are not consistent— they are actively investigating the incidents.

Authorities encourage all parents to talk to their children about what to do if approached by strangers.

Police say they are not issuing any alert for a specific vehicle or suspect.
